Paolo Della Casa

Mr. Paolo Della Casa is a Northern Italian born entrepreneur who has founded several Companies in various aspects of the procurement, manufacturing and furniture fit out arena for the last 25 years. In the US market during the real estate boom from 1999 to 2007, Mr. Della Casa completed over fifty luxury residential condo hotels, hotels and furniture fit- outs with his brand of furnishings until it was sold in 2007.

The business turnover was above $55M at the time of sale and his company was ranked as one of the top 10 largest US companies in his sector, by the internationally noted Centre of Industrial Studies (CSIL).

From 2015-2009, Della Casa has been present in the Middle East region selectively consulting on hospitality projects from the Developer, Buyer and/or Operators Brand perspective (Kempinski Summerland Beirut, Range Development /Park Hyatt Hotel, EPG Hotel Residence and Resort/Kempinski Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, Fairmont Ajman, Ajman).

Beside his role as CEO of Specxreef, he is currently consultant for Kempinski Trading (corporate purchasing entity) creating a Hospitality FF&E revenue generating a FFE –Contract division for ‘In-house” and Operator properties.

Filippo Della Casa

Operations Director

As the new generation of entrepreneurs Filippo Della Casa is considered one of the most dynamic and creative buyers of furniture and operating equipment for the hospitality industry in the Americas.

Following the legacy and footsteps of his father Paolo Della Casa, Filippo graduated from Northeastern University College of Science, Boston with a degree in Psychology, with the intent to understand clients better. This combined with the art of global sourcing mastered by his father during the 25 years tenure at Della Casa Company, Filippo is well on the way to make himself recognised as the one to watch.

Currently he is employed to manage the logistics and administration of Specxreef Miami office with the responsibility of maintaining the high standard set by the company.

Most recently Filippo completed was instrumental in the selection of millwork and furniture suppliers for the Bakara Villa in Miami Beach – currently listed at $35,900,000.00, making his name known within the high net worth community of Miami, Florida.

Akbar Verjee

Non Executive Chairman Specxreef Africa


Born in Kenya and educated in the UK, Akbar is an alumnus of the University of Wales (LLB Aberystwyth) and Gray’s Inn, where he qualified as a barrister. His early career as a lawyer in Nairobi with Makecha & Co, a prestigious Nairobi firm at the time, gave him a firm understanding of business practices in the region although he moved back to the UK in 1974.

Besides the law, his main focus has always been in the hotel sector and he acquired his first hotel in 1978. Since then, based out of London and Dubai, Akbar has bought, sold, leased, managed and consulted on over 100 hotels across the US, Canada, the UK, the UAE, India, Oman, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Ghana. Today, Akbar is the Chairman of Hotels Home LLC, a UAE based hotel investment and management company and acts as the non-executive Chairman of CityBlue Hotels, one of Africa’s fastest-growing hotel chains.

Akbar has also set up businesses over the past three decades in real estate development, nursing homes, textiles, retail pharmacies and restaurants and remains an avid entrepreneur. However, his passion is voluntary work, primarily to support the Aga Khan Development Network, and he dedicates as much time as he can to do so.
